The ECU 2030 Team introduces a comprehensive strategy dedicated to strengthening women’s inclusion in chess across Europe. Built on four core pillars: participation, safety, visibility, and leadership, the program combines proven, ongoing policies with ambitious new initiatives to create a sustainable, development pathway.
Key Highlights:
- What We Have Delivered: Implementation of the Safe Play Policy and cooperation with Women’s Chess Foundation, free trainings for talented girls via the ECU Academy, free seminars and webinars supporting education, leadership and community building, establishment of Women’s Chess Trophy, support of Women’s National teams for the Chess Olympiad, and the establishment of the annual Women’s Championships with stable prize funds
- What We Will Strengthen (2026–2030): Launching the European Women’s Chess Super League in 2028, proposing an official amendment to the ECU Statutes to guarantee that electoral tickets include at least two male and two female members – a standard our team has already met, support federations with practical toolkits, guidance, and targeted financial mechanisms to increase women’s participation at national and European level, raise promotion and media standards for women’s events, and strengthen the competitive pathway from youth to elite level, including better continuity of opportunities and recognition of emerging talents.
- Developing Future Leaders: Establishing the ECU Women’s Leadership Program to train young women (ages 18–30) in chess governance and federation management, with the dedication to building on the excellent Norwegian model but European-wide and women-focused.
- Accountable Progress: Tracking success through clear KPIs, including year-on-year participation growth , federation engagement , and strict minimum media standards for event coverage.
