Chess in Olympic Family - ECU Special Task Committee
Under the ECU2030 program, a new initiative called the “Chess in Olympic Family” (COF) Special Task Committee has
been announced. This dedicated body will aim to align European chess governance and federation pathways directly with the
Olympic movement. To achieve this, the committee will review ECU statutes for IOC compliance and coordinate a unified
European approach to Olympic-family recognition. It will also map current member federations that belong to National
Olympic Committees (NOCs) while offering practical toolkits to help non-member federations gain recognition.
Together with experienced federation representatives and respected athlete ambassadors, we will actively pursue
the strategic inclusion of chess in the European Olympic and European Youth Games ecosystems. Ultimately, this initiative is
designed to elevate the institutional credibility of chess across Europe and establish a professional framework for long-term projects.
